Every cedar piece is carefully dried in Clayoquot Crafts' own kiln, making sure that the natural oil remains in the wood, a key step in proper wood preservation.

Western Red Cedar furniture resists the elements and, if left unfinished, will weather to a beautiful silver grey.  The rich natural oil content in cedar allows the wood to combat a wide variety of adverse environmental conditions making it an ideal choice for outdoor furniture.

To ensure ease of assembly, all the furniture pieces are pre-assembled in our shop then disassembled for shipping.  Easy step by step assembly instructions are included.

Finishing Our Adirondack Furniture With a Stain

A word from the Craftsmen,

Cedar is a soft and absorbent wood. We recommend to put a finish on to protect the furniture from the elements. We have chosen 2 options.

Finishing Adirondack Furniture Option 1
For long lasting finish we recommend "Sikken" Cetol 1, 087 natural. Sikkens is a breathable oil based stain with UV protection that will last several years, depending on exposure of your furniture. Three coats of finish should be applied for the first time and a light sanding with 120 grit paper before you apply the 3rd coat of finish. This will provide a beautiful long lasting durable finish. Finishing Adirondack Furniture Option 2
Aa quick application we recommend Penofin Ultra Premium Red Label Wood Finish: Transparent Western Red Cedar UV protection oil. Depending on the exposure to the oudoors that your furniture recieves, Penofin will have to applied once every year.

The furniture shown on the website has been finished. Clayoquot Crafts' cedar furniture can be stored outdoors without many adverse effects. All of our products are sold finely sanded and ready to accept your finish. For best results, stain or oil it should be applied as soon as your furniture is assembled.
